Walter White, played by Bryan Cranston (Malcom In The Middle, Little Miss Sunshine), is a father, husband, high school chemistry teacher, cancer patient, and methamphetamine cook. Jesse Pinkman, played by Aaron Paul, is Walt's side kick, but not in a Sancho Panza sort of
way; more like what John Steinbeck's character Lennie Small is to George Milton. Jesse has terrible luck, coupled with drug addiction and the resulting poor decision making skills. But regardless, Walt needs him, and by the end of season 2, we saw the business relationship transition into a father-son-like bond. Throughout the series, the name "Heisenberg" will come up, which is Walt's alias, and also his increasingly popular name on the streets, and unfortunately for him, in the DEA's office, which happens to be where his brother-in-law is a lead investigator.
What is Breaking Bad?
Well, to "break bad" is to flip sides, from good to bad, usually inspired by a traumatic or desperate experience. Walter is motivated by his financial state of course. He is a gifted chemist, who had the opportunity years ago to sell out and make millions, but instead he decided to teach high school students.
